Volunteer Policies

  • A successful summer swim league is accomplished with the invaluable help of our parents. 
  • We rely on our parents to run our meets during our 8 week program. Therefore, there is a mandatory parent participation requirement. 
  • YOU will be required to sign up for volunteer jobs at registration. You cannot complete registration without signing up for volunteer jobs. We cannot run a meet if we cannot have enough volunteers to fill the jobs needed. 
  • If your participation requirement minimum is not met, your swimmer may practice but is subject to exclusion in swim meets and will be determined by the discretion of the Head Coach.
  • Any remaining open assignments will be randomly filled by the volunteer coordinator. You will receive an assignment confirmation for every job that is assigned to you.

Training

  • Some assignments require training prior to our first meet. 
  • If you are interested in Stroke/Turn Judge assignments, you must watch the training videos prior to our meets. Videos can be found under Meet & EventsTraining Resources.  
  • A mock meet will be scheduled to familiarize parents on what a meet looks like and to answer any additional questions you may have about the meet or a specific job. 

Meets/Day of Your Assignment

On the day of the meet, you

  • will arrive at the meet and must sign in at the Volunteer Check In table. You will be given a lanyard and any necessary supplies.
  • For Home Meets, all volunteers must check in at the check in table by 4:30 pm. This includes second half volunteers**
  • For Away meets, all volunteers must check in at the check-in table by 5:30pm. This includes second half volunteers**

**NOTE- If you are assigned to a second half assignment, and you know you do not make the check-in time, you must notify the volunteer coordinator as soon as possible via email or via the Remind App if it is the day of the meet.

  • All home meets start promptly at 5pm. 
  • All Away meets start at 6 pm.
  • There is a volunteer meeting for all timers 15 minutes prior to the start of the meet. Please make sure you listen for the announcement. It is your responsibility to listen for this announcement and arrive at your assignments on time. When volunteers do not get to their assignments promptly, the volunteer coordinator has to go and search for volunteers and the meet becomes delayed.
  • When you have finished your assignment, remember to return all supplies to the volunteer check-in table.

Modifying/Canceling Assignments

  • You can modify/cancel your assignments prior to the meet at any time through the Signup.com. However, if you have to cancel your assignment on the day of the meet, it will be your responsibility to find a replacement AND notify the volunteer coordinator as soon as possible.

Communication

  • Please make sure you download the Remind App. This is vital to staying informed with last minute changes to meets and practices and other important updates and information. You can text @makosswim2 to 81010 or you can join the class by using the link found on makosswim.com.
